We are delighted to share two significant opportunities currently available through the University of Glasgow, designed to support the growth of educators and the evolution of learning in Scotland. Whether you are looking to deepen your practice while working full-time or wish to embark on high-level collaborative research, these pathways offer unique support and funding.
1. MSc Enhanced Practice in Education (Dumfries Campus)
The MSc Enhanced Practice in Education (EPiE) is specifically tailored for the modern educator. Taught via weekend-intensive sessions at the University’s Dumfries Campus, the program is designed to align part-time study with full-time professional commitments.
- Focus: Courses center on designing, managing, and evaluating change within educational settings.
- Alternative Pathways: This is particularly relevant if your developmental goals sit outside the traditional GTCS pathways to middle or senior leadership. It offers a vital space to reflect on diverse ways to create impact in the field.
- Funding & Credits: There are 10 full-time equivalent fully funded places available each year for Scottish-domiciled students. These are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so early application is essential. Additionally, you can apply for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) for up to 60 credits from a PGDE or other postgraduate certificates.
2. Collaborative PhD Studentship: Interrupted Learners
In partnership with Skills Development Scotland and i-Sgoil, a fully funded PhD studentship is available to explore the transitions and employability needs of interrupted learners attending secondary school virtually in Scotland.
- The Package: The studentship covers 3.5 years of fees plus a stipend. A 4th year of funding is available should the successful candidate require a research Masters to begin their doctoral journey.
- The Goal: This research will provide critical insights into how we support students whose traditional schooling has been disrupted, ensuring their path to future employment is clear and supported.
