By popular demand, we have made these posters available to download as PDF posters for your classroom wall. These should hopefully be a reminder for pupils about the possible careers and skills that RMPS equips you for in the workplace.
Let’s be honest—every single one of us has sat at an options evening and had a pupil or parent look us in the eye and ask: “But what do you actually get out of this subject in the real world?” For ages, there’s been this myth floating around that diving into ethics, philosophy, and worldviews is just a nice bit of trivia, or only useful if you’re heading off to study theology. But the reality in Scotland right now couldn’t be more different. Tech and AI are changing jobs at lightning speed, and what employers are actually desperate for are human “meta-skills”—things computers just can’t copy.
In their major Future of Jobs Report, the World Economic Forum tracks which skills are rising in demand globally due to the growth of AI.
Their data consistently shows that while technical skills have a short shelf-life, core philosophical and cognitive skills are booming. The top skills employers are actively looking for right now include:
- Analytical and Creative Thinking
- Resilience, Flexibility, and Agility
- Empathy and Active Listening
